Our beekeeper at the hives

Belmont, CA · Since 2017

Honest honey, one backyard hive at a time.

How it started

It began with a conversation at the farmers market.

One beautiful Sunday morning in June of 2017, we were strolling our local farmers market and struck up a conversation with the man selling honey. He'd been keeping bees for years, right in his San Mateo backyard. We'd been buying his honey for months, so he didn't have to convince us it was good.

The more we talked, the more the idea took hold. Think of all the good bees do for our plants, we needbees. And on top of it, they share a little sweetness with us. So we found the local beekeepers' guild, discovered a whole community, bought three colonies, and a week later we became beekeepers ourselves.

We've never had so much fun. Our kids are learning right alongside us, and three months after those first three hives, we harvested our very first batch. It was delicious. That's how Belmont Beelicious began, and every season since, the apiary (and the honey) has grown.

Honeycomb dripping with raw honey

Honest honey

The purest honey possible, nothing added, nothing taken away.

Our bees are never treated with chemical medications, and they draw 100% from their own honeycomb. We filter only the wax caps, never heat the honey, and leave in all the beneficial enzymes and pollen that most store-bought honey lacks. Simply put: it's honest, locally made honey.

What we stand for

Four promises in every jar.

Raw & unfiltered

Filtered only from the comb cap, never fine-strained, so the pollen and enzymes stay in.

Never heated

Cold-extracted at hive temperature. No pasteurizing, no shortcuts, no dead enzymes.

Truly local

Our bees forage within a few miles of Oak Knoll Drive. This is the taste of Belmont.

Bee-first beekeeping

No chemical medications, ever. Healthy hives make honest honey.
